Financial Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to support operational finance activities within a dynamic business environment. This is a contract role based in a hybrid/on-site model, focused on financial reporting, analysis, and business partnering. The role involves interpreting financial results, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and driving process improvements while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze financial operating results (production, expenses, royalties) and provide insights

• Support monthly performance reporting, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations

• Conduct profit & loss analysis and prepare financial reports for stakeholders

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities

• Ensure compliance with financial controls and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX)

• Act as a liaison between finance and operational teams

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including partner/audit-related queries

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting enhancements

• Support ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and cross-functional projects

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience

• Strong analytical and financial interpretation skills

• Experience with financial systems (SAP or similar ERP tools)

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in Oil & Gas or similar industries

• Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)

• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning

• Experience with data analytics or reporting tools

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
