Assistant Controller, Commercial Property

HireLoft Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, privately held real estate development and property management company in Western Canada to hire an Assistant Controller in Edmonton.

This is a succession opportunity. You will step into a leadership seat held by a long-tenured leader, with a planned handover and a capable, experienced team already in place.

Compensation

- Base salary: $105,000 to $125,000

- 15% annual bonus

What you will do

- Lead the accounting team with direct and indirect reports (approx. 15 to 20 people)

- Oversee accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties

- Oversee project and job cost accounting for development and capital projects

- Facilitate year-end CAM reconciliations and audits

- Support regional and rental property budgeting and consolidation

- Strengthen internal controls and improve processes and systems

- Partner with development, leasing and property management teams

- Provide insight and support to the Controller and executive team

What you bring

- CPA designation

- 5+ years of accounting experience in a supervisory or management role

- Commercial property management accounting experience

- Real estate development and multi-entity accounting experience

- Yardi experience is a strong asset

- A collaborative leader focused on continuous improvement

Work details

- Fully on-site in Edmonton, Monday to Friday

- Occasional travel to other offices
