Picture Operations Manager
Urban Post Production
The Picture Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the picture department within a post-production facility. This role ensures efficient workflow management, resource allocation, and delivery of high-quality visual content across all projects. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of post-production processes with leadership and organizational skills to support editors, colourists, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the picture department, including editing, conform, colour grading, finishing, and deliveries
- Oversee project scheduling, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are consistently met
- Coordinate resources, including staff, freelance talent with project managers, the VP Operations and Director of Post-Production Technology
- Collaborate with producers, clients, and creative teams to define project scope and deliverables
- Implement and maintain standardized workflows, best practices, and quality control procedures
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve bottlenecks or technical issues
- Supervise and mentor editors, assistants, and technical staff
- Stay current with emerging technologies, software, and industry trends in post-production
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in post-production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Understanding of editing, colour grading, finishing, and delivery workflows
- Familiar with industry-standard software (e.g., Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in film, television, advertising, or streaming content production
- Knowledge of 4k feature workflows, HDR, Dolby Vision, and broadcast delivery specifications
- Understanding of VFX pipelines and integration with picture workflows
