Responsibilities

What does a typical day look like as an Health, Safety, Environment and Security Coordinator?

• Collaborate with the leadership team and employees to promote a strong occupational health and safety culture;
• Organize and lead Health and Safety Committee meetings and follow up on corrective actions;
• Participate in the management of workplace incident and accident claims;
• Conduct inspections, audits, and site visits to verify compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures;
• Participate in the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, environment, and security (HSES) programs;
• Support and advise managers and employees on HSES matters;
• Monitor occupational health and safety, environmental, and security management systems;
• Serve as the main point of contact with CNESST and regulatory agencies;
• Conduct or coordinate investigations and analyses of incidents, accidents, and non-conformities;
• Develop, update, and test emergency response plans;
• Identify risks and recommend preventive solutions tailored to operational needs;
• Track corrective and preventive actions;
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs;
• Establish performance indicators and prepare monitoring reports;
• Participate in the development and implementation of the environmental action plan;
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements and standards applicable to port operations;
• Contribute to maintaining and improving performance under the Green Marine program;
• Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications

To be successful as an Health, Safety, Environment and Security Coordinator, you must have:

• College diploma (DEC) in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field;
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a similar role;
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills;
• Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written: Given the diversity of our team and the need to communicate with local, national, and international clients and partners, proficiency in both French and English is required;
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and meet deadlines;
• Strong autonomy, attention to detail, and rigor;
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities;
• Excellent communication and customer service skills;
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new applications and technologies;
• Demonstrated motivational and collaborative leadership.
