Role Description

We are looking for several exceptional and experienced candidates with significant interest and experience to make breakthroughs in mechanical engineering of robotic and humanoid systems to join our team in a leading position. The successful candidate will be reporting to our management and product development teams to collaborate, design, innovate, integrate, and validate wearable devices and robotic systems focused on robotic end-effectors, dexterous hands, manipulators and overall humanoid, robotic system and wearable system designs.

You will work directly with the CEO and management team to play a critical role in shaping the future of tactile intelligence for robotics and human data.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, development and integration of mechanical parts, components, actuators, motors, gears, electronic hardware integrated components, advanced sensors enclosures, flexible electronic skin components, for wearable devices, robotic end-effectors, dexterous robotic hands and manipulators for embodied robotics, humanoids and physical AI.
  • Testing and validation of mechanical parts and components for wearable devices and robotic systems with our electrical hardware engineering team designed for accuracy and repeatability in real-time and closed-loop operation scenarios.
  • Development and implementation actuators and movement control for fast, reliable and dexterous movements of hand and end-effectors.
  • Develop automated testing equipment, jigs and methods to ensure system reliability, accuracy, durability, manufacturability and scalable operation.
  • Work with manufacturers, suppliers, and partners for developing scalable manufacturing, parts and sourcing.
  • Work with other team members to gather data and help with data analysis and demos.
  • Teamwork to achieve overall objectives of the projects, stick to milestones and product targets.

Qualifications

  • BS or Graduate Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering
  • 2+ year of industry experience working on related topics
  • Strong experience in mechanical and 3D designs, embedded sensing and actuators, energy efficient designs, manufacturing, enclosure and skin design, flexible and hard components
  • Strong experience with robotic systems, embedded sensors, robotics interactions, motor control, force sensing, tactile sensing, and close-loop feedback systems
  • Strong experience in materials durability, manufacturability and reliability, performance in real environments, abrasion and harsh mechanical testing, temperature cycle testing, magnetic and metallic properties of materials
  • Experience in movement data, force sensing data, tactile data, biomechanics of movements, actuation and muscle force applications
  • Experience in use of IMUs and other wearable sensors and their mechanical properties in cyclic movements and repeated operations, causing drifts and errors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic control and actuation, small motors and actuator and internal sensing designs, tendons, joints and reliable movements
  • Experience in computer vision and working with cameras and multimodal tactile sensing and moving mechanical systems
  • Hands on experience on design of mechanical components, 3D design and fabrication
  • Hands on experience in working with suppliers, subcontractors, and fabricators and partners
  • Strong communication and documentation skills and ability to operate independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills, big picture thinking skills and efficient work and project planning skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Familiarity with working with novel ideas, early stage prototype development and nuances related to early stage start-up

Strong Plus

Experience with:

  • Flexible electronics / smart textiles
  • Wearables or human sensing systems, biomechanics, force sensing and actuation systems
  • Robotics or human-machine interfaces

Familiarity with:

  • ML-based hardware data processing and calibration

Experience working with cross-border sourcing and manufacturing ecosystems
