Full-Time Direct Support Professional Positions

Hourly rate: $25.05

Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees work with people who experience developmental disabilities as they live in their homes and communities. This position assists people in their daily life, working with them and their connections to ensure that they can live fully in the community. Direct Support Professionals recognize people's rights to direct their life, understanding that each person has unique gifts and needs, and they support people to learn skills for their own growth and development.

Skills Required

  • SSW, Recreational therapist, DSW or CYW Diploma
  • experience with Behaviour support plans. (BSP)
  • Current/Valid G license and able to drive.
  • Candidates will be working across multiple sites all over the Greater Sudbury Area
  • Computer Skills: Windows, Word, Excel, Email, etc.
  • Must build rapport and have a professional working relationship with the police, fire support, EMS and hospitals.
  • Full G License required

Experience Required

  • High behaviour supports
  • Candidates are expected to maintain professionalism
  • Supports to people who have a dual diagnosis
  • Supports to people who experience Autism

Ability Required

  • Current Safe Management
  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Able to lift 35 lbs
  • Able to perform restraints
  • Able to perform CPR
  • Able to perform restraints
  • Able to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment

The successful candidate will be selected based on Article 12.03 of the UFCW Sudbury Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement.
