Role and Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom hydraulic systems and hydraulic power units (HPUs).
- Review customer RFPs, drawings, control documents, and technical specifications to determine project requirements.
- Work directly with customers to define project scope, clarify technical requirements, and support proposal development alongside the sales team.
- Collaborate with suppliers and investigate new technologies.
- Create new hydraulic schematics and update existing designs.
- Select hydraulic components and complete fabrication designs for hydraulic power units.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), operation and maintenance manuals, and other project documentation.
- Support engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are executed according to project requirements.
- Assist with system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and technical support activities.
- Provide remote support for commissioning and service inquiries.
- Work independently in a home-office environment when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience designing custom hydraulic systems.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D; SolidWorks Electrical experience is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of hydraulic components and systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and plumbing, with hands-on experience in commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting considered an asset.
- Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms is considered an asset.
- Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designations are considered assets but are not required.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% for installations and service support.
- Ability to work independently, both remotely and on-site, with access to a dedicated home office and reliable high-speed internet.
