About Us: Kiwanis Village is a successful, sustainable, not for profit organization in the heart of Nanaimo, British Columbia that provides an integrated and dynamic community with a full range of services that foster purpose, well-being and joy.
We are looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our Long-term Care program. This position works 1.5 days per week as a dynamic member of our interdisciplinary team to achieve excellence in nutritional care within Kiwanis Village.
Dietitian Scope of Services
- Provide assessment and develop therapeutic nutrition and hydration plans of care for all residents upon admission based on the RAI/MDS schedule using RAI/MDS assessment tools adhering to the timelines set out in the program.
- Provide assessment and develop therapeutic nutrition and hydration plans of care for all residents deemed at high nutritional risk on a quarterly basis or more often as deemed necessary based on the RAI/MDS schedule using RAI/MDS assessment tools adhering to the timelines set out in the program.
- To complete Nutrition Referrals as assigned and address the nutritional needs of all residents identified at risk of malnutrition/poor nutrition/choking or any other identified concern.
- To complete annual nutrition reviews as assigned.
- To complete monthly weight variance reviews as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- To complete a monthly progress note on all residents deemed at high nutritional risk to review the effectiveness of current nutrition and hydration plans of care and make suggestions for improvement.
- To complete a monthly progress note on all residents with stage II wounds or higher to review the effectiveness of current nutrition and hydration plans of care and make suggestions for improvement.
- To complete documentation on residents health record upon admission and upon each subsequent visit to maintain continuity and ongoing evaluation of nutritional services as these relate to the clinical diagnosis.
- To complete meal time assessments and chairside dysphagia assessments - making recommendations for texture modifications as required
- To leave daily documentation of all work completed.
- Provide a monthly visitation schedule to the Executive Director and notify the home of any necessary changes to schedule in advance.
- Provide staff development and in-services as time and scheduling allow.
- To participate in facility committees as time and scheduling allow.
- Provide on-site menu review and sign-off on each menu cycle based on MOH standards.
- Work cooperatively with the residents, family members, facility administration, food service staff, nursing staff, physicians and supporting consultants to achieve excellence in nutritional care within Kiwanis Village.
- Will collaborate with allied health, and other team members residents and family care partners for a person-centered approach to care
- Are knowledgeable and compliant with the Residents Bill of Rights
- Agree to comply with the influenza vaccine/outbreak protocol.
- Agree to respect and adhere to all provisions outlined in acts and legislation as they relate to their affiliation with Kiwanis Village.
- Agree to comply with all Policies and Procedures of Kiwanis Village.
- Agree to comply with the specifications of this document for the duration of this agreement and with the qualifications required for Licensing.
