Looking for a flexible driving opportunity that fits your schedule?
We're looking for reliable Casual Field Trip Bus Drivers to transport students safely on school field trips throughout Alberta.
This is an ideal opportunity for:
- Shift workers
- Retirees or semi-retired drivers
- Class 1 and 2 drivers looking for extra income
- Anyone wanting flexible, occasional work
No Minimum Commitment
This isn't a traditional part-time job.
You decide when you work.
Some of our drivers take only one or two trips each year, while others drive several trips each month. Accept only the trips that fit your schedule.
How It Works
- Schools request a charter bus.
- Trip details are emailed to our casual driver list.
- If the trip works for you, simply accept it.
- If it doesn't, just wait for the next opportunity.
Typical Trips
Most trips include:
- School athletic tournaments
- Ski trips
- Educational excursions
Common destinations include:
- Edmonton
- Calgary
- Jasper
- and many other Alberta communities.
Approximately 90% of overnight trips depart Thursday or Friday and return Saturday or Sunday.
Duties
- Safely transport students, and chaperones on scheduled field trips
- Communicate with coaches and school staff to confirm trip details, including pickup locations, itinerary, departure times and return times
- Plan safe travel routes, and parking locations as needed for each trip
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Fuel buses
- Maintain accurate electronic trip documentation
- Follow all provincial legislation and Division transportation procedures
- Operate both 24-passenger and 40-passenger Multi-Activity Buses.
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Class 2 or 4 Driver's Licence with S-endorsement
- Don't have your S Endorsement?
- For the right candidate, we may cover the cost of obtaining your S Endorsement.
- Licensing
- 40 Passenger Bus Valid Class 2 with (S) required
- 24 Passenger Bus Valid Class 2 or 4 with (S) required
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver's Abstract (within the last 3 months)
- Criminal Record Check
- Vulnerable Sector Check
Pay & Benefits
- $22.65/hour driving rate
- $15.00/hour standby rate
- $150 trip stipend
- Hotel accommodations provided for overnight trips
- Meal allowance paid
- Paid driving and standby time
Additional Benefits
- Coaches, teachers and adult chaperones accompany every trip and supervise students, allowing you to focus on driving safely.
