Position Overview
The Accounting Clerk will play a key role within the Finance Team as well as supporting the other general accounting functions in SAP. Focused responsibility will be assisting with Accounts Receivable. The position reports to the Controller and will be based out of our Dartmouth head office and operate within our hybrid model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounts Receivable Functions
- Receive and apply daily customer payments using Blackline cash application and SAP, including but not limited to:
- Cheques
- Credit Cards
- Wires & EFT payments
- Analyze and resolve customer payment discrepancies, as needed
- Processing basic customer credits – customer returns short ships damages
- Prepare credit notes for customer advertising
- Coordinate with the Sales team the completion of coop forms
- Determine month end and yearend accruals
- Work with Sales team to ensure all coop is received and coded
- Releasing of customer orders, as needed
- Process and distribute customer account statements plus invoice copy requests, as needed
- Coordinate the billing for the Optometry groups monthly
- Other duties as assigned
Assist with General Accounting Functions
- Provide Backup for Accounts Payable and Accounting as required within the department
- Other projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- General accounting experience combined with a diploma in Business Administration
- Having experience in Accounts Receivable/ Collections is an asset
- Experience working in SAP is an asset.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong analytical and data management skills – strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
