AltaSteel Inc. is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Sales Lead to join our Sales team. Reporting to the Manager, Sales, the Sales Lead is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of customer accounts by building strong relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maximizing sales volumes and margins. This role focuses on long-term account development, customer retention, and strategic growth while working closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met and service commitments are delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow assigned customer accounts to ensure sustained sales volumes, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, developing strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Understand customer business needs, requirements, and challenges, and align AltaSteel products and services accordingly.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand business within existing accounts.
  • Identify and pursue new account opportunities within targeted markets and industries.
  • Qualify prospective customers and support the onboarding of new accounts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs and support account growth.
  • Work closely with Quality, Operations, Production, and Logistics teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Communicate customer expectations internally and manage issue resolution to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Support coordination related to pricing, contracts, and service commitments.
  • Prepare and present proposals, pricing, and account plans.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and commercial agreements to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Monitor account performance against sales targets, margins, and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate account records, forecasts, and reporting.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, improvement, and differentiation within assigned accounts.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of related experience, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
  • Post secondary education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships, with a track record of exceeding sales targets and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and influence decision-making.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with senior-level executives and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a growth mindset and a desire to continuously develop professionally.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to meet with clients within North America (travel expectation could be up to 25% of the time).

Job Details

  • Full-time, permanent opportunity.
  • Standard schedule of work is Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm, with occasional business requirements to work outside of standard hours.
  • On-site work with no remote or hybrid option
  • Compensation includes base salary, bonus, health benefits and pension contributions.
  • Incumbent must be comfortable with wearing PPE and frequently entering plant settings.
  • Pre-Employment Criminal Background check and zero tolerance Alcohol & Drug test is required.
