Who You Are
The Test Engineering Lead role is responsible for supporting engineering test activities across K-Hart’s farm equipment lines. This includes both lab and field testing, assisting with prototype builds, and troubleshooting machine performance. You enjoy working hands-on with equipment, diagnosing issues, and validating solutions in real-world conditions. You are observant, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working both in a shop environment and in the field with customers. This role requires travel during key farming seasons.
Key Responsibilities
· The Duties and Responsibilities of the Test Engineering Lead role are focused on ensuring the successful completing of testing activities related to K-Hart’s current and future farm equipment products.
· Provide oversight of the prototyping process whenever new test apparatus or machines are being built for the purpose of K-Hart product validation.
· Provide test engineering leadership and support on new product development projects during the lab testing and field-testing phases.
· Provide test engineering leadership and support on current products while lab and field testing of updates is performed.
· Ensure the accuracy of reports on failures observed during testing and solutions implemented to remedy the failures.
· Perform maintenance and repair activities on large farm implements to ensure they remain operational, and testing can continue.
· Work with design engineers to evaluate and implement design changes intended to fix observed failures and validate their effectiveness in solving the issues.
· Work directly with farmers to train them in the operation of the test machines, and to obtain their feedback on performance and reliability issues they see and observe.
· Travel, sometimes for 10-14 days at a time, to remote locations to test farm implements in the environment that they are commonly used in.
· Assist in prototype builds and test setup
What Sets You Apart?
· Engineering degree or Technological Diploma (Mechanical or Agricultural preferred)
· Experience in testing or working with heavy equipment
· Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills
· Strong troubleshooting and observation skills
· Good communication skills
· Ability to travel within Canada and the US
· Experience operating agricultural equipment is an asset
