We’re looking for a Business Analyst who shares that passion.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Analyst is Community Futures Central

Alberta’s primary small business lending professional, responsible for the full lending lifecycle

and advanced business advisory services.

What You'll Do

Entrepreneur Success

You’ll work directly with entrepreneurs who are launching, growing, or navigating challenges in

their businesses.

You'll:

 Provide one-on-one business coaching and advisory services to entrepreneurs and small

business owners.

 Help clients evaluate opportunities, address challenges, and plan for sustainable growth

through business planning, cash flow forecasting, financing guidance, and business

development support.

 Connect entrepreneurs with programs, services, and referral partners that support long-term

success.

 Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to support business stability and growth.

Small Business Lending & Portfolio Management

You’ll administer the full lending lifecycle while helping maintain a strong, sustainable, and

responsive investment portfolio.

You'll:

 Guide applicants from initial inquiry through assessment, approval, documentation,

disbursement, monitoring, and repayment.

 Analyze business plans, financial statements, cash flow projections, and security.

 Conduct due diligence, including credit analysis and verification of supporting documentation.

 Prepare lending recommendations and present them to the Board of Directors’ Investment

Review Committee.

 Prepare loan documentation and coordinate disbursements.

 Monitor portfolio performance through client contact, annual reviews, and financial analysis.

 Manage collections, loan restructures, and insolvency files in accordance with organizational

policies.

 Assist the General Manager with annual loan-loss provisioning and portfolio analysis.

 Recommend improvements to lending practices and the client experience.

Partnerships & Community Connections

Relationships are central to our work. You’ll build connections with lenders, professionals,

municipalities, and community partners that strengthen referrals and expand awareness of

Community Futures.

You'll:

 Develop relationships with commercial lenders, accountants, lawyers, municipalities,

Chambers of Commerce, economic development organizations, and other referral partners.

 Increase awareness of Community Futures programs and services throughout Central

Alberta.

 Represent Community Futures at networking events, workshops, business functions, and

community meetings.

 Collaborate with other Community Futures offices and partner organizations to strengthen

the regional business support ecosystem.

 Identify opportunities to responsibly grow Community Futures' lending portfolio.

Administration & Reporting

You'll help ensure our lending portfolio is managed with professionalism, accuracy, and

accountability.

You'll:

 Maintain accurate client files and records using Community Futures' loan management and

client information systems.

 Coordinate Investment Review Committee agendas and supporting documentation.

 Prepare portfolio reports and recommendations related to trends, risk, and performance.

 Ensure loan documentation and security registrations are complete and current.

The Person We're Looking For

The ideal candidate brings sound business judgment, genuine curiosity, and a passion for

helping entrepreneurs succeed.

You'll likely have:

 Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Experience in commercial lending, business banking, credit adjudication, or a related field.

We recognize that strong candidates may bring transferable experience and a willingness to

continue developing their expertise.

 Experience interpreting financial statements and assessing business viability.

 Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

 Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

 Confidence to make recommendations supported by sound analysis.

 A valid Alberta driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Central Alberta.

Most importantly, you enjoy asking thoughtful questions, listening carefully, and helping people

find practical solutions. You’re as comfortable discussing financial statements with a lender as

you are encouraging an entrepreneur taking the first step toward business ownership. You build

trust naturally and understand that strong relationships contribute to stronger businesses and

communities.
