Role Description
The Civil and Mechanical Design Engineers – Steam Generator Replacement Program role is a full-time hybrid position based in Kincardine, ON, with flexibility for some work from home. In this role, team members will develop and refine civil and mechanical design concepts for steam generator replacement projects, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry codes, standards, and safety requirements. Day-to-day tasks include creating and reviewing detailed design documents and CAD models, performing engineering calculations and analyses, and coordinating design interfaces between mechanical, structural, and other disciplines. The role involves collaborating with project managers, site engineers, and suppliers to support manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities, as well as preparing technical reports, design justifications, and documentation for regulatory review. Engineers will participate in design reviews, address technical queries, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the steam generator replacement program.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and design engineering skills, including Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, and Machine Design.
- Proficiency in Product Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for developing and reviewing detailed engineering drawings and models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline; advanced degrees are an asset.
- Experience in nuclear, power generation, heavy industrial, or related sectors, with familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety practices.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, structural and mechanical analyses, and prepare clear technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and on multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to be based in or commute regularly to Kincardine, ON.
