The Role

We are currently searching for a Retail Store Manager, reporting to the District Manager. This vacancy is a full-time, permanent opportunity. The Store Manager plays a critical part in bringing our stores to life every day and you will lead from the front by being present and working alongside your team in a fast-paced environment to support daily operations. You will be responsible for driving overall store performance, developing and coaching employees, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment for both customers and staff.

This role requires a strong balance of leadership, operational accountability, and flexibility. Successful candidates are comfortable adapting to changing business needs, supporting a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends as required, and maintaining close connection to day to day store activity. Through visible leadership and a commitment to our values, you will help create a positive team culture while delivering on operational and customer service expectations.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead by example by working side by side with your team to support daily store operations

Recruit, train, coach and develop employees to achieve their full potential

Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture

Build strong working relationships within a unionized environment and ensure adherence to the Collective Agreement

Ensure compliance with health & safety, internal/external audit, social responsibility programs (WE ID), and all regulatory requirements

Effectively manage a budget according to organizational objectives

Schedule staff according to operational needs and the Collective Agreement

Oversee the Ontario Deposit Return Program (ODRP) and approved recyclables

Ensure all signage and displays are executed to operational plans and guidelines

Manage inventory levels to meet customer demands

Encourage participation in community initiatives

Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Completion of the Beer Store’s High Potential Program (HPP) strongly preferred

Experience

A minimum of 3-5 years of operations experience in a Retail environment

Supervisory/Managerial operations experience in a Retail environment strongly preferred

Experience with The Beer Store/Brewers Distributor Ltd. preferred

Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be a strong asset

Skills

Proven leadership ability to effectively manage the team of direct reports

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent customer service, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

The ability to make sound decisions in a timely fashion

You are expected to follow and enforce with staff all company and legislated health and safety procedures and must use all PPE provided

The availability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, is necessary to succeed in this role

Must be able to comfortably lift up to 40lbs (over 18kg) for more then 100 ft (30 metres) for continuous periods of time

Must be able to stand on your feet for long, consecutive periods

Proficiency with core Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive

Compensation
