Job Title: Director, Total Rewards

Equinox Gold is a growth-focused Canadian mining company with four operating gold mines, and a clear path to achieve more than one million ounces of annual gold production from a pipeline of development and expansion projects.

Job Summary

The Director, Total Rewards is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive compensation, benefits, and recognition programs across Equinox Gold’s operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, this role aligns total rewards with business strategy, ensuring programs are competitive, performance-driven, and support the attraction, retention, and motivation of talent.

Based in the Vancouver corporate office, the Director, Total Rewards will play a key role in shaping a consistent and competitive rewards framework across multinational operations, balancing global consistency with local market relevance.

Key Responsibilities

Design, maintain, and evolve global structures (base salary, short- and long-term incentives).

Lead annual compensation cycles, ensuring governance, market competitiveness, fairness, and accuracy.

Maintain job architecture (grading/salary bands) and provide guidance on pay decisions and promotions across regions.

Oversee design, governance, benchmarking, and peer group oversight of executive compensation to support pay-for-performance.

Monitor proxy advisor guidance (ISS, Glass Lewis, etc.) and brief leadership on impacts.

Manage external compensation consultants (scope, independence, deliverables, fees) and support committee and board materials.

Lead executive compensation disclosure (including CD&A) and management information circular support, including pay-for-performance analysis.

Oversee regional benefits and wellness programs, vendor renewals, and cost, reporting, and compliance with Finance and local HR.

Design and maintain performance-based recognition programs aligned to culture and performance.

Ensure total rewards compliance across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and Nicaragua; maintain policies, governance, and controls.

Oversee corporate HRIS (SuccessFactors) data governance and reporting for total rewards.

Develop total rewards metrics and insights (effectiveness/ROI) and align strategy with Finance planning and affordability.

Lead and develop the Total Rewards Analyst; act as total rewards subject matter expert (SME) for Equinox Gold operations.

Required Experience and Skill Set

10+ years total rewards experience in a multinational or resource-based organization.

Experience supporting Canada, the U.S., and Latin America operations.

Executive compensation experience (benchmarking, governance, committee/board support, and disclosure support).

Strong compensation design capability (job evaluation, market pricing) and multi-jurisdiction compliance knowledge.

Benefits administration and vendor management experience across multiple jurisdictions.

Advanced Excel, data analysis, and financial modelling skills.

Advanced HRIS/analytics experience (e.g., SuccessFactors) and strong reporting capability.

Proven ability to influence senior leaders and partner cross-functionally with discretion and confidentiality.

M&A integration experience for compensation and benefits is an asset.

Certifications

Professional certification such as CCP, CEBS, GRP, or equivalent strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Master's degree in relevant subject area is desired.
