About the role

Reporting to Engineering, the CAD Technician - Engineering Support is responsible for creating, updating, organizing, and maintaining CAD documentation to support engineering and production needs.

This entry-level role is suited for a detail-oriented technical individual with strong spatial reasoning, foundational CAD skills, and the ability to learn manufacturing processes and vehicle layouts quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models to support engineering and production requirements.
  • Capture product, component, layout, or manufacturing information in CAD format.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings from models, sketches, measurements, or engineering direction.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and clear for internal use.
  • Update existing CAD files, drawings, and documentation as required.
  • Revise documentation to reflect current engineering or production information.
  • Maintain the engineering CAD library.
  • Support consistent file organization, naming, and version control.
  • Convert legacy drawings into current CAD formats.
  • Review converted documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support engineering data capture and documentation needs.
  • Work with Engineering and Production teams to clarify requirements.
  • Collaborate with Lead Mould Engineer, on CAD and documentation priorities.

Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent certification in Engineering Design, Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field.
  • Foundational proficiency in 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Autodesk, or similar.

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundational proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or Autodesk).
  • Strong spatial reasoning.
  • Engineering drawing creation.
  • CAD documentation updates.
  • CAD file organization and library maintenance.
  • Legacy drawing conversion.
  • Engineering data capture.
  • Foundational proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Autodesk, or similar.

Power / Human Skills

  • Attention to Detail: Reviews drawings, models, and documentation carefully to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Spatial Reasoning: Understands how parts, assemblies, and layouts fit together in three-dimensional space.
  • Organization: Maintains CAD files and engineering documentation in a structured and reliable way.
  • Learning Agility: Quickly learns manufacturing processes, vehicle layouts, and documentation requirements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Works effectively with Engineering and Production teams, to clarify needs and complete documentation tasks.
  • Process Discipline: Follows established workflows, documentation practices, and change processes to support consistent and accurate configuration management.
  • Accountability & Follow-Through: Takes ownership of assigned CAD and documentation updates through to completion.

Remuneration: CA$45,000 to CA$50,000 annually

Job Type: Full-time, permanent, indoors, modern factory
