About this Opportunity
This position is with Degrees Catering, a division of UNFS (University Food Services). Catering experience is an asset.
Subject to intermittent layoffs during holidays and reading breaks.
Required
- Due to limited public transportation for early morning and late evening shifts, it is required to have reliable personal transportation in order to arrive for shifts starting as early for 6am or ending as late as 12am, 7 days a week
- Successful applicants must be able to work varied shifts as required which may include evenings and weekends
Job Summary
University Food Services (UNFS) is the primary provider of food and beverage services at the University of Victoria. UNFS provides meals to students, staff, faculty and external clients through several retail and residential dining venues as well as its catering division, Degrees Catering. UNFS currently operates retail venues across campus ranging from small grab and go cafés to high volume food court operations.
Under the Direction of the Food Service Manager, Coordinator or other designate, Delivery Attendants play a key role in ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction by providing timely, accurate, and reliable product delivery to all UNFS locations and outlets. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of UNFS vehicles and equipment to transport, deliver, and stock a variety of goods across campus, supporting the smooth and effective operation of departmental services.
Experience
- A minimum of one-year-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge/Education
- Completion of Grade 10.
- Valid Food Safe Level I certification.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License with driving abstract.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instruction.
- Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures as established by UNFS policy.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Basic math skills and comprehension.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods; perform frequent bending, reaching, and twisting; repeatedly lift 10–20kgs, lift to 25kg and push or pull up to 25kg.
