Research Assistant 2 - General Adult Division Research

The General Adult and Health Systems Psychiatry Division is currently looking for a casual Research Assistant 2. This position reports directly to the Research Manager and provides support to a Scientist in the General Adult and Health Systems Psychiatry Division. It offers the opportunity to be part of an active and productive team and to have a variety of interesting work interfacing research, patient care, administration, and project management. The project is based on Canada's first "Exercise Intervention Service", which is a supervised, tiered program offering patients with depression different levels of support via a supervised, group, aerobic-based exercise intervention.
Responsibilities
The Research Assistant 2 supports clinical, community, and health research studies through participant recruitment and engagement, data collection and management, research coordination, and qualitative and quantitative analysis. Working independently and collaboratively within research, clinical, and wellness teams, the role contributes to the accurate implementation of research protocols, maintenance of high-quality research data, and preparation of research outputs while ensuring compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
- Recruit, screen, consent, schedule, and follow up with research participants
- Coordinate participant interviews, study visits, and ongoing communication
- Support participant retention strategies and relationship-building
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with participants, families, and caregivers
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection activities
- Assist with administration of interviews, questionnaires, surveys, and assessments
- Support mixed-methods and longitudinal research designs
- Coordinate collection of study-related materials or samples as required
- Perform accurate data entry, coding, and database maintenance
- Conduct data cleaning and quality control checks
- Maintain electronic and paper-based study documentation in accordance with SOPs
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of research documentation
- Support ethics submissions, amendments, and SOP development
- Ensure compliance with ethical, privacy, and legislative requirements
- Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, posters, and manuscripts
- Conduct literature searches using academic databases
- Translate research findings for scientific and non-scientific audiences
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling, meeting coordination, and file organization
- Assist with organizing study calendars and documentation
- Support advisory groups, consultations, or stakeholder engagement activities
- Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to team objectives
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Perform other related research or administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of Community College education in health, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant research experience
- Experience recruiting, screening, and consenting research participants
- Experience with data entry, data management, and quality control
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience with REDCap or similar electronic data capture systems
- Experience conducting academic literature searches
- Experience preparing research reports, presentations, or manuscripts
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language
Salary Range: $26.80 - $33.05 per hour
