Top Gun Feeders Inc. (a division of Titan Livestock Group of Companies), located in Moose Jaw, SK, is currently looking for an energetic individual to fill the position of full time Animal Health Worker located at our Feedlot in Moose Jaw, SK. (Hwy 2, 8km south of Moose Jaw).

Responsibilities

  • Processing and treating cattle which includes but is not limited to administration of vaccines and medications, implants, castration or banding of bulls, prolapsed cattle, lancing of growths, dehorning and deworming as directed.

  • Assist with receiving new cattle and enter data in Fusion and on hard copy.

  • Assist with shipping cattle ensuring appropriate cattle are being loaded; assist with loading and provide correct paperwork (manifests) to driver.

  • Enter all data into Fusion on shipped cattle as directed.

  • Record all deaths in computer and on hard copy as directed.

  • Assist with daily pen checks to ensure animal health.

  • Assist with pulling sick cattle out of pen to treat, record treatment and return cattle to appropriate pen (original pen or sick pen).

  • Keep up to date accurate records of all treatments.

  • Assist with daily checks of water bowls and clean as required.

  • Assist with regular bedding of pens to maintain health and cleanliness of cattle.

  • Assist with Pen Checking duties as required.

  • Assist with yard maintenance duties as required.

  • Follow all established and future Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Complete all applicable mandatory training as required.

  • Report any and all deficiencies in equipment functionality and quality to Feedlot Manager in a timely fashion.

  • Observe and practice a high standard of cleanliness in the processing barn.

  • Clean and sanitize all processing equipment.

  • Consistently practice and promote safety.

  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience handling cattle/livestock and/or working in a feedlot

  • Must be able to perform manual physical labour

  • Excellent communication and strong organization skills

  • Must be self-motivated with a positive team player attitude

  • Must have attention to detail

  • Is consistently at work and on time

  • Physically fit and able to push, pull, lift up to 50+ lbs and to bend and kneel with comfort

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions

  • Schedule includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible and able to work longer hours/days during busy seasons

  • Excellent command of the English language (reading, writing and verbal)

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
