We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Engineering Technologist V to join the Water Business Centre within the Operations & Utilities Division. This position reports to the Water

Manager and supports the delivery of safe, reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective municipal services through technical analysis, project coordination, collaboration, and continuous

improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the planning, operation, maintenance, rehabilitation, and lifecycle management of municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, and metering infrastructure.
  • Provide technical advice, operational analysis, infrastructure review, and coordination support to help ensure utility systems are reliable, compliant, sustainable, and aligned with Town standards and service needs.
  • Provide direct operational support to Water and Wastewater Operations through involvement in day-to-day system activities, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, shutdown planning, compliance related activities and emergency response support.
  • Work with internal and external partners to support asset management, infrastructure reliability, regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness, emergency response readiness, infrastructure renewal, and long-term capital and operating plans.
  • Coordinate and support the planning, design, construction, operation, rehabilitation, and lifecycle management of municipal infrastructure to ensure systems are safe, reliable, efficient, sustainable, cost-effective, and aligned with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and long-term service objectives.
  • Assist with ensuring all engineering and utility related work is compliant with relevant provincial and municipal statutory requirements, approvals, standards, specifications and accepted engineering practices.
  • Review infrastructure related to new development and subdivision applications in accordance with policies, specifications, provincial regulations and accepted engineering standards.
  • Participate in assigned projects and initiatives, including technical review, documentation, coordination, implementation support, and follow-up.
  • Maintain and support the integrity of engineering, operational, asset management, and infrastructure information systems to support regulatory compliance, operational decision-making, lifecycle planning, and effective service delivery

What you Bring

A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of a Diploma Training

Program at a College or Technical School. This specialized training is often formalized and recognized by a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from an accredited school, plus:

  • 3 or more years relevant professional C.E.T experience representing continuous learning required;
  • Municipal Experience is considered an asset;
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, apply design principles, and use industry standard software and tools for analysis, modeling, and documentation;
  • Solid understanding of provincial and municipal codes, safety regulations, and engineering standards relevant to their field of practice;
  • Skilled in managing tasks, timelines, and resources while effectively communicating with team members, clients, contractors, consultants, and other business partners.
