Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

A Part-Time Academic is needed to teach the following course from September 9th to October 16th. Class is currently scheduled for 11:30am to 2.30 pm on Tuesdays. The course is delivered over a 6-week period and is offered in-person as a 1.5 credit course (1/2 course load).

This course is delivered to our full-time Master of Management (MM) students. This course offers an exploration of the theory and practice involved in working with people in organizations, from both formal and informal leadership perspectives. The emphasis is on understanding individual (micro) and organizational (macro) factors and the processes through with they influence behavior, with a view to improving managerial effectiveness. Students have the opportunity to develop and apply this understanding through experiential exercises and case studies in real organizations.

The Part-Time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation. The part-time academic should be available for a three-hour lecture and two hours per week for consultation with students. The part-time academic reports to Dr. Paulette Skerrett, the MM Program Director.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

  • A graduate degree in a management related topic is required.
  • The successful applicant must have demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter, practical experience, and record of effective teaching experience.
  • Excellent oral/written and presentation skills are required.
  • Considering the nature of this course, professional work experience in industry is strongly considered an asset.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

$8,260 per course (In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement)
