Responsibilities
Represents the Technology Application Services (TAS) department in the provision of all corporate Geographic Information Systems advice and services related to the achievement of business objectives for an assigned business area. Assists in developing and delivering software customizations, interfaces and/or new applications (as required) that have a GIS component. Assesses new GIS related business requirements and makes recommendations on how those business needs can be met within the existing solutions or addressed through new solutions development. Applies emerging information and GIS technologies through facilitating knowledge and data exchange with other agencies. Ensures that corporate GIS needs are planned for and evolve along a path that aligns with corporate objectives and BTS technical framework.
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Computer Systems Technology (CST), Geography, Planning or Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of Technology with emphasis in Geographic Information Systems, computer programming, computer systems and fundamentals of mapping and databases, together with courses in GIS programming.
Requires three (3) years previous experience with GIS products and technologies, especially those currently used by the enterprise. Experience and familiarity with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), various spatial-analysis technologies and knowledge of the current enterprise spatial service engine is a plus. Experience in working collaboratively with others to develop procedures and protocols for the use of information systems, recommending technology standards, providing support in the design and development of specifications and geo-spatial analysis applications and in the operation of GIS related software and data sharing. A further period of up to one (1) year on the job to become familiar with the corporate information systems environment, the specific GIS systems used, the various databases and the business areas.
Other Information
Experience in the following is an asset:
- Administering ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop (10.8.2)/Pro (3.2.1), and FME Flow/Form (2023.3)
- Supporting ArcGIS Online and Enterprise integrations
- Solving GIS technical problems and conducting root cause analysis
Experience With The Following Technology Is Desired
- Esri ArcGIS Pro and Desktop
- Safe Software’s FME Form and Flow
- Web GIS tools (Experience Builder, Dashboards, Field Maps, Survey123)
- Esri Geodatabases, ArcGIS REST APIs, .NET, C#, JavaScript, HTML
- ArcGIS Python API, Jupyter Notebooks
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
This is a full-time temporary position for 12 months.
Work Designation
Remote
This positions offers the ability to work predominately in a remote capacity within B.C. The business will request onsite presence at times for operational reasons.
Rate of Pay
Salary $8,236 - $9,896 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
