Qualifications
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Technical Theater, or Music is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a concert hall or similar performance venue is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio, lighting, and visual equipment, specifically:
- Yamaha Sound console, Electrovoice Sound system, Qlab playback software
- ETC Ion XE lighting board, ETC power controls and lighting fixtures
- THERN controls
- Must have strong problem solving skills.
- Able to communicate effectively and diplomatically both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
Key responsibilities
- At the direction of the Concert Hall Coordinator, be responsible for the preparation of events and performances within the Concert Hall including, anticipating equipment requirements, ensuring scheduling conflicts are prevented.
- Under direction of the Concert Hall Coordinator repair equipment and instruments according to the University of Manitoba Purchasing Policy, as needed.
- Responsible for completing Incident Reports documenting loss, theft, or damage. All reports are to be sent to the Dean, CHC and Security as appropriate.
- Ensure that the equipment is set up and working properly.
- Provides technical support on all equipment (audio visual, lighting, sound, etc.) during set up, performances and breakdown.
- Assist Concert Hall Coordinator in the operation and maintenance of the hall’s specialized equipment.
- Provides advice and guidance to academics, students, and technical subordinates on equipment use.
- Oversee rehearsals and live performances, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of technical equipment before and after events.
- Maintain the order and cleanliness of the Concert Hall.
