Musqueam Capital Corporation (MCC) was established in 2012 to replace the Musqueam Economic Development Department and serves as the economic development arm of the Musqueam Indian Band (MIB). MCC is responsible for the development of Musqueam’s lands, acts as an asset manager for Musqueam’s existing real estate holdings, and creates economic opportunity through business partnerships.

MCC is currently in search for a Junior Accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining ledger accuracy, managing daily transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and supporting month-end closings. Working closely with our senior accountants, you will help prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute the daily cash summary
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoice generation and payment application
  • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Prepare customer account reconciliations and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approvals
  • Assist in the biweekly payment process
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements
  • Review employee expense claims for completeness and policy compliance
  • Prepare journal entries related to credit card transactions
  • Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Assist with audit requests and other financial reporting requirements
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience
  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 programs
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of tax regulations and accounting principles
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, such as Business Central, Vena Solutions, or similar platforms is an asset
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with various departments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
