The Department of Land Economy is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join a research project examining the governance of biodiversity conservation, land-use change, and food systems. The project combines quantitative analysis of global panel datasets with high-resolution land-cover analysis to investigate how conservation policies and land-use dynamics interact across different geographical scales.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of a programme of research that draws on statistical and econometric modelling, geospatial analysis, and large international datasets. The role is particularly suited to a social scientist with strong quantitative skills and an interest in biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, or environmental governance.

Working closely with Dr Aiora Zabala, the postholder will contribute to data analysis, research design, literature reviews, and the preparation of academic publications. The role also offers an opportunity to help shape future research directions through the development of follow-on projects and grant applications.

The position is based in the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance and is closely connected to the Cambridge Conservation Research Institute. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research environment with strong links across conservation science, environmental policy, economics, and governance.

We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline and experience in quantitative research, R programming, and statistical or econometric analysis. Experience with spatial data, GIS, land-use change research, or biodiversity-related topics is particularly valuable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 10 months in the first instance.
