Diagnostic Imaging has four key philosophies of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These provide the guiding principles in the development and delivery of service to all patients and families in Diagnostic Imaging at High River Hospital. The position is responsible for providing and performing the highest quality service possible to the clients of Diagnostic Imaging. This service provision is made in an effective, efficient and safe manner. The successful candidate will work closely with other areas within High River Hospital and across the zone with Diagnostic Imaging. This position will work in Ultrasound.

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

Graduate of a recognized and accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or successful completion of the Sonography Canada examinations. Valid membership from Sonography Canada and/or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider required. Venipuncture, CVAD certification, as required.

Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrates perception, initiative, judgement and concern for detail and accuracy. Demonstrates ability tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physicians.
