Forma Steel specializes in manufacturing high-quality steel roofing, siding, trim, and custom panels in a wide range of gauges, colors, and finishes.

We are currently looking to hire the following position in our Forma Steel Facility in Fort Macleod, AB. The successful candidate will be required to drive to construction sites across western Canada as needed.

Job Type: Full-time Permanent

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Occasional Weekends Dependent on Orders

Forma Steel is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring our mobile roll forming machine at customer construction sites and on the production floor. The successful candidate will ensure steel roofing panels are produced safely, efficiently, and to specification while representing Forma Steel professionally on-site.

This role requires occasional travel to construction sites, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the mobile roll forming machine and other roll forming machines to manufacture steel panels according to project specifications.
  • Set up and prepare the mobile roll forming machine for production at customer job sites when needed.
  • Verify panel lengths, dimensions, and overall product quality throughout production.
  • Ensure finished products are prepared for all shipping requirements (i.e., banding, Packaging).
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and identify any maintenance or repair requirements.
  • Conduct routine machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors, contractors, and customers to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any quality or equipment concerns.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the machine and production site.
  • Represent Forma Steel in a professional manner while working at customer locations.
  • Assist with additional production activities as required.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with the ability to travel to customer job sites.
  • Experience operating manufacturing, industrial, or construction equipment is considered an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications and measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Experience working on construction sites
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a field environment.
