The Kitimat Museum & Archives is an independent, community-based, nonprofit organization that preserves, interprets, and shares the cultural and natural heritage of Kitimat and the surrounding region. We are seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented professional to join our team as Marketing Manager.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of heritage, communications, and digital engagement. The Marketing Manager serves as the Museum’s communications and digital specialist, managing marketing, design, and our online platforms while also contributing to exhibitions and community programming.

Role: Marketing Manager
Location: 293 City Centre, Kitimat, BC V8C 1T6
Wage: $35/hour
Schedule: 21 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and implement social media strategies to grow the Museum’s reach and engagement.
- Create engaging content for print, digital, and on-site platforms, including advertisements, posters, newsletters, and interpretive exhibition panels.
- Manage the Museum’s website, ensuring accessibility, usability, and alignment with the Museum’s mandate.
- Prepare media notices, newsletters, and e-blasts through MailChimp.
- Monitor analytics, evaluate performance, and adjust strategies to improve engagement.
Community Engagement
- Foster a positive online community by monitoring and responding to comments and inquiries.
- Contribute to planning and delivering Museum programs, exhibitions, and events.
- Participate in Museum-wide activities such as exhibition installations, receptions, and events.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in social media management, content creation, and digital communications.
- Proficiency with tools such as Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative, WordPress, and MailChimp.
- Strong knowledge of social media algorithms, analytics tools, and digital trends.
- Excellent writing, communication, and graphic design skills.
- Video editing experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Interest in local history, heritage, and culture.
Compensation & Benefits
- $35/hour working a minimum of 21 hours/week.
