Role Description

The Security Systems Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in Victoria, BC. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing security systems such as access control, intrusion alarms, CCTV, and related hardware and software. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, running and terminating cables, mounting devices, programming system components, and verifying proper operation. The role also involves diagnosing and resolving installation issues, performing routine maintenance, and documenting work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards. The installer will interact with clients on-site, provide user orientation on system features, and collaborate with electricians, technicians, and other team members to deliver integrated, safe, and compliant installations.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience installing and servicing security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV equipment.
• Proficiency with low-voltage wiring, cable management, and the use of hand and power tools for system installation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for electrical and security layouts.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing hardware, wiring, and configuration issues in security and communication systems.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards, building codes, and industry best practices for on-site installation work.
• Effective communication and customer service skills to explain system operation and interact professionally with clients and team members.
• Good organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple jobs, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in Victoria, BC and the surrounding area.
• Relevant trade certification, security license, or apprenticeship training in electrical or security systems is an asset.
• Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions, with a commitment to safe work practices.
