The Opportunity

The Ministry of Community Safety, Pine Grove Correctional requires a motivated and positive leader to assume the role of Nurse Manager for the Health Care unit, which consists of 14 full-time and 18 part-time nursing staff. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the overall assessment, delivery and evaluation of all health care services provided to offenders within the Centre; identifying budget requirements to safely meet patient and clinic needs by managing expenditures; establishing and maintaining standards of practice; hiring and managing performance of professional and support staff; and creating and sustaining a healthy work environment.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Health, you will provide leadership and direction to the health care staff delivering direct care and treatment to approximately 200 female offenders. You will lead the delivery of timely, effective and efficient patient health care management, health care information, education and training to both offenders and staff.

To qualify, you will be registered with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS) or the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) and have current BLS healthcare provider certification recognized by your respective licensing body. You must also have demonstrated leadership/management experience in a previous professional capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of timely, effective and efficient patient health care management, health care information, education and training to both offenders and staff.
  • Responsible for the overall assessment

  • Establish and maintain standards of practice.
  • Hire, lead and evaluate the performance of professional and support staff.
