The Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing cost control processes and monitoring project performance to ensure successful delivery within budget. This role drives continuous improvement in cost management practices across all phases of the project lifecycle and serves as the primary point of contact for cost control activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of administrative assistants and cost control analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment built on teamwork and continuous learning.Establish clear performance expectations, conduct reviews, and support employee growth and development.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure alignment with cost control objectives.
  • Track, analyze, and forecast project costs, providing accurate variance reporting and financial insights.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement best practices to strengthen project cost control processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness.
  • Champion innovative solutions that enhance project performance and financial oversight.
  • Assess cost-related risks and collaborate with project teams on effective mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain quality control measures for cost tracking, documentation, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost performance reports against project milestones.
  • Communicate financial performance, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful reporting to support decision-making.
  • Analyze historical cost data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
  • Document lessons learned and apply insights to future projects.
  • Recognize and celebrate team achievements while fostering a positive workplace culture.

What You Bring

  • College diploma in Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of cost control experience within the construction, mining, or engineering industries.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Jonas software is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with trade union collective agreements is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The salary range for this position is $100,300 to $118,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
