About FIZZ

FIZZ is a specialty non-alcoholic bottle shop and wholesale business based in Victoria, BC. We carry a highly curated collection of non-alcoholic wines, spirits, botanical cocktails, functional beverages, craft beer and other really good drinks.

We’re a small, growing business working within one of the fastest-evolving areas of the beverage industry, and we’re looking for a Retail + Product Specialist to join our team.

This is more than a traditional retail position. The person in this role will gain hands-on experience across customer experience, sales, product education, merchandising, inventory and specialty retail operations while developing deep knowledge of the non-alcoholic beverage category.

The Role

As a Retail + Product Specialist, you’ll spend much of your time working independently in the shop and helping customers navigate a category that is still new to many people.

You’ll learn our product portfolio and help customers discover products based on their tastes, occasion and budget. We’re looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people and understands that great retail is equal parts hospitality, product knowledge and thoughtful sales.

Responsibilities include:

• Creating a warm, knowledgeable and welcoming customer experience
• Learning the FIZZ product portfolio and confidently making recommendations
• Driving retail sales through thoughtful recommendations, pairing and upselling
• Processing transactions using Shopify POS
• Opening and closing the shop independently
• Receiving and organizing incoming inventory
• Restocking products and maintaining displays
• Merchandising and helping keep the shop visually strong and organized
• Maintaining a clean and well-stocked retail environment
• Supporting product tastings, launches and occasional FIZZ events

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need previous knowledge of non-alcoholic beverages — we’ll teach you the category.

We’re more interested in finding someone who is:

• Comfortable with sales and making recommendations
• Reliable and able to work independently
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Proactive and able to notice what needs to be done
• Interested in food, beverage, hospitality, wellness, retail or consumer brands
• Available for consistent weekend shifts throughout the school year

Previous retail, hospitality, sales or customer-service experience is an asset but not required.

Students studying business, commerce, marketing, hospitality or related disciplines may particularly enjoy the opportunity to see how a small consumer business operates across sales, merchandising, inventory and customer experience, but students from all areas of study are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

Approximately 14–21 hours per week, primarily:

Saturday + Sunday, plus the potential for one consistent weekday shift, depending on availability.

The position is designed to work well alongside a university schedule. However, reliable weekend availability throughout the fall and winter semesters is important for this role.

Compensation

$20–$22/hour, depending on experience

The position also includes a FIZZ staff discount and ongoing opportunities for product education, tastings and category learning.
