Controller / Senior Accountant

WE’RE HIRING: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT / CONTROLLER

Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

Full-Time | On-Site

$65,000–$105,000, based on experience and position level

The Wilson Group of Companies is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our team in Yarmouth.

We’re open to hiring at one of two levels:

Controller — for an experienced professional ready to take ownership of the accounting function and work directly with our CFO and senior leadership.

Senior Accountant — for a strong accounting professional who is ready to take the next step and grow into a Controller-level role with mentorship along the way.

Don’t rule yourself out based on the title. If you have solid accounting experience, strong business judgment, and the ambition to grow, we’d like to hear from you.

More than an accounting role

Our operations span multiple companies and locations, including Home Hardware Building Centre, The Brick, Bell, and other business interests.

This role provides the opportunity to understand the businesses behind the numbers, work closely with management, and help provide the financial insight needed to make better business decisions.

What we’re looking for

5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred

Strong Excel and accounting/business systems skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to take ownership and work independently

Someone who can explain financial information in plain language

Experience with inventory or multi-location retail is an asset

CPA designation is an asset, but not necessarily required for the right candidate
