The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides assessment, intervention, monitoring, and follow-up care for ambulatory patients receiving infusion therapy. LPNs work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Clerical Staff, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians to support the delivery of high-quality patient care during IV Clinic appointments. LPNs are accountable for their professional practice and are responsible for providing safe, competent, and ethical care within their scope of practice. All activities performed by the LPN are carried out in accordance with Covenant Health policies and procedures, as well as the specific standards, guidelines, and protocols of the IV Clinic. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. The role is committed to providing person-centred, culturally safe, and inclusive care that respects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, values, and needs of patients/residents and families. The LPN contributes to a culture of learning and professional practice excellence by orienting, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of staff, students, and learners. The role promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative practice to enhance individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. The LPN demonstrates leadership within their scope of practice by coordinating care activities, supporting effective team functioning, and contributing to quality improvement and patient/resident safety initiatives. The incumbent fosters professional relationships with patients/residents, families, colleagues, physicians, and other members of the health care team, promoting a culture of respect, collaboration, and belonging. The LPN practices in accordance with applicable legislation, regulatory standards, professional ethics, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications

Minimum of two to three years of experience in a medical or surgical setting, preferably in an ambulatory care environment. Current IV insertion and PICC line certifications are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, involving walking, bending and lifting.
