Quality Engineer

SEA Canada is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Ottawa-based team. This is a hands-on, high‑impact role supporting advanced defence and security products throughout their lifecycle, from concept through in‑service support. You’ll work as part of a multi‑disciplinary, international team, collaborating closely with colleagues in Canada and the UK.
The Role
Reporting to the SEA Canada Operations and Quality Lead, the Quality Engineer will provide leadership and practical support across the SEA Canada Quality Management System. You will help maintain and improve our QMS, coordinate Quality Control activities, support supplier quality, manage non-conformities and corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

The ideal candidate would be prepared to dig into and shape the quality/business processes to ensure they conform, are efficient and fit for purpose. This position involves working with sensitive information; successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a Canadian security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Responsible for facilitating and supporting a QA and CI culture to support the growth of SEA Canada.
- Contribute to and implementing QA and CI policy within SEA Canada in relation to regional requirements and SEA best practice.
- Administer the SEA Canada QMS, contributing to process development, working with process owner to create or improve processes that are robust and compliant, document and records management, coordination of mandatory events such as internal audit and management review.
- Monitor and measure SEA QA & CI performance through appropriate scorecard/KPIs and related communications of those KPIs.
- Assure process compliance across the organization.
- Introduce and implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives across the organization.
- Administer internal and external non-conformity, corrective action, preventative actions and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist manufacturing engineering with assessing and recommending solutions to quality issues within production.
- Facilitate customer and regulatory audits are conducted successfully to demonstrate conformance and achieve stakeholder satisfaction.
- Provide structure and oversight to Quality Control activities, including parts inspection and document review.
- Support supply chain via supplier quality activities such as supplier audit, working directly with suppliers on supplier quality issues, first article/first off inspection.
What We’re Looking For
- An undergraduate degree in engineering or a related field.
- At least four years’ experience in a manufacturing environment governed by ISO 9001, AS9100, or an equivalent quality standard.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing principles, testing methods, and quality engineering practices.
- Experience applying tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, SPC, root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work across functions and with suppliers.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Internal auditor or lead auditor certification would be an asset.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management would be an asset.
- Ability to travel internationally to support business operations.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a Canadian security clearance.
