Summary
The Front ‑ End DZ Driver is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of front‑end collection vehicles, ensuring consistent and timely service across London and surrounding areas. The role requires a clean driving record, strong knowledge of local roads, and the physical ability to safely handle containers. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential, along with strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
In the position of Front-End DZ Driver, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate front-end collection vehicles in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to Miller Waste Systems safety and customer service standards.
- Coordinate timely pick-up and delivery of containers.
- Maintain high productivity while executing your duties safely
- Have excellent customer service skills, as you will be the front-line contact with the customers
- Ensure customers are serviced as per their contractual requirements and schedules.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, operational efficiency, and customer service excellence.
- Maintain your assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, and operational condition, including completing daily inspections and basic cleaning of the vehicle and equipment.
- Ensure customers are serviced as per their contractual requirements and schedules
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, although you are the sole operator, you will be working with other Front-End Drivers in the coordination of work
- Support cross-training across multiple equipment types to assist operations as needed
- Be a constructive contributor to the team and operations as a whole.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies & Qualifications
- Positive attitude with demonstrated initiative and drive when completing duties.
- Valid DZ Driver’s Licence with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR
- Minimum of 3-5 years of driving experience is required with preference being given to those with experience in single person units
- Have a strong spatial awareness and demonstrated sound judgement, as you will be required to maneuver in smaller spaces and identify and report hazards
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and report equipment issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Must be able to use in-cab technology such as tablet computers and communication devices
- Flexibility is necessary, as this position occasionally requires travel, early starts, late finishes, working statutory holidays, and on some occasions, weekends.
- Have excellent knowledge of and be familiar with the roads in London and surrounding areas.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs independently.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience operating the required equipment.
