Pay Range: $28.21 – $30.92 per hour

Status: Part Time, 2-3 days / week

Summary of Position

The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources. This role works closely with internal team members to gather information, develop compelling proposals, and ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.

Accountability Objective

To support the organization’s strategic goals by securing funding through the development of high-quality grant applications, maintaining strong relationships with funding partners, and ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and reporting obligations.

Background/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in grant writing, proposal development, fundraising, or a related role; experience within the not-for-profit sector is considered an asset. 
  • Exceptional written communication, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to prepare persuasive, clear, and concise grant applications, proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs) and supporting documentation. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities, assess grant eligibility requirements, and align opportunities with organizational priorities.
  • Knowledge of grant writing best practices, funding agency requirements, and grant compliance standards.
  • Experience with developing and reviewing grant budgets in collaboration with finance and program teams, with an understanding of financial reporting and funding compliance requirements.
