The JDI Customs Group is a dedicated group of professionals responsible for controlling Customs self-clearance of high-volume shipments entering Canada by ocean, air, highway, and rail modes. The group conducts in depth compliance audits of CBSA and CBP regulations, policies, and procedures for all the J.D. Irving, Limited groups of companies. The team manages numerous other government agency requirements such as CFIA, USDA, FDA, CRA, APHIS and MLB to maintain high compliance standards. The successful candidate can work out of our Saint John, or Moncton office.
- Strong knowledge of current Canadian and US Custom Legislation
- Support the Canadian and U.S. business units and provide documentation and information requirements to facilitate routine cross border shipments.
- Customs activity governance, and implementation of supporting initiatives.
- Releasing and accounting for shipments air, rail, highway and ocean
- Preparing export documentation and monthly report for GST and Duty
- Ensure Company compliance with Canada and US Customs Laws and Regulations, including NAFTA.
- Build and strengthen relationships with customs authorities and other government departments.
- Relevant Post-Secondary Education
- >1 year of relevant experience
- Knowledge of International Free Trade Agreements
- Knowledge of governmental permits
- Strong organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- High attention to detail
- High degree of curiosity
- CCS (Certified Custom’s Specialist) #LI-GK1 is an asset
