Research Student – Human-in-the-Loop AI Validation
AUTONOMIC
UBC OVI Lab, in collaboration with Autonomic Technologies, is recruiting research students for a project investigating human-in-the-loop validation of AI-generated recommendations for student cognitive performance and well-being.
Students will work with Autonomic’s AI platform to review recommendations, identify inconsistencies and edge cases, analyze human-AI decision-making, and contribute to the development and evaluation of validation workflows, dashboards, and visualization tools.
The project provides hands-on research experience at the intersection of AI, HCI, behavioral science, neuroscience, and educational technology, with joint mentorship from UBC researchers and the Autonomic team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current or recently completed Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and written comprehension.
- Ability to follow structured research and validation protocols.
- Comfortable working with digital tools and structured data.
- Interest in AI, HCI, psychology, neuroscience, behavioral/health sciences, data science, or educational technology.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research team.
- Prior research, AI, data analysis, HCI/UX, visualization, or behavioral-science experience is an asset but not required.
