Senior Lawyer

We are seeking a senior litigation lawyer with 10+ years of experience and a strong background defending complex liability matters. The ideal candidate will have experience with historical sexual abuse claims, complex motor vehicle accidents, public entity liability claims, police services claims, and Building Code matters, and be interested in building a long-term practice in London.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex insurance defence and liability litigation files.
• Defend historical sexual abuse claims and complex MVA matters.
• Handle public entity liability matters, including police services claims.
• Advise on Building Code and other complex liability disputes.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal opinions, correspondence, and other litigation materials.
• Conduct discoveries, mediations, hearings, and court appearances.
• Develop litigation strategy and provide practical legal advice to clients and insurers.
• Work with experts, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders throughout the litigation process.
• Manage files from intake through resolution while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of litigation experience.
• Significant experience in insurance defence and complex liability litigation.
• Experience defending historical sexual abuse claims is strongly preferred.
• Experience with complex MVA, public entity/police services liability, and Building Code claims.
• Strong advocacy, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation files.
• Strong client-management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while exercising a high degree of autonomy.
• Willingness to work and build a practice in London, Ontario.
