Reporting to the Manager, Forensic Mental Health, the Behavioural Technologist is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of outreach support to clients and their families and Regional Developmental Service Agencies (DSA) in a manner consistent with Providence Care’s Mission, Vision and Values. Utilizing a problem solving, collaborative and responsive approach in conjunction with the inter-professional teams, community partners, clients and families, the Behavioural Technologist provides education and consultation to assist the DS sector agencies to work with and assist with the risk management for persons living with a dual diagnosis who are at risk of justice system involvement. As well as providing opportunities to develop greater expertise in working with people with a dual diagnosis who are at risk of justice system involvement from the DS agencies.

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Diploma in Behavioural Science Technology or Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in Behavioural Psychology
  • Two years’ work experience providing services to individuals living with a dual diagnosis in forensics setting, preferred
  • Experience and comfort working within a broad range of non-traditional, community settings and with a variety of service providers
  • Experience in implementing capacity enhancement and knowledge exchange activities

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops effective therapeutic relationships, including developing a shared understanding of the individual's lived experience of their illness
  • Participates in and completes parts of the client-centered comprehensive assessment in conjunction with other members of the team
  • Consults with the DS agencies to understand needs for the client and the agency
  • Provides education to the DS agencies to develop greater expertise in working with people with a dual diagnosis within a forensics mental health lens
  • Provides education and support to individuals and their families and advocates for individual's rights and preferences
  • Supports and assists DS agencies in risk management with persons who are at risk of justice system involvement
