Today, the Club is entering an exciting new chapter, including the arrival of Executive Chef H. Kim, whose culinary leadership is elevating our dining program and creating new opportunities for innovative food and wine experiences.

Position Summary

The University Club is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and service-focused Part-Time Sommelier to support and enhance our wine and beverage program.

This is a unique opportunity for a wine professional who enjoys engaging directly with members, curating exceptional wine experiences, and collaborating with a talented culinary team. Working closely with Chef H. Kim and our Food & Beverage team, the successful candidate will help create thoughtful wine programs, educational events, pairing experiences, and memorable dining occasions that reflect the Club's commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Wine Service & Member Experience

• Deliver exceptional wine service to members and guests.
• Recommend wine selections and pairings that enhance the dining experience.
• Build relationships with members through personalized wine engagement and education.
• Act as a wine ambassador for the Club and contribute to a welcoming and sophisticated member experience.

Wine Programming & Events

• Assist in planning and executing wine dinners, tastings, educational seminars, and member events.
• Develop creative wine experiences that align with the Club's strategic vision and member interests.
• Collaborate with Chef H. Kim to design wine pairings that showcase seasonal menus and culinary initiatives.
• Host and participate in member-facing wine education programs.

Wine List Development & Inventory

• Assist with the curation and ongoing development of the Club's wine list.
• Monitor inventory levels and provide recommendations for purchasing and cellar management.
• Maintain proper wine storage, organization, and presentation standards.
• Identify opportunities to introduce exciting and emerging wine regions, producers, and trends.

Team Development

• Support staff education and training on wine service standards, varietals, regions, and pairing principles.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and hospitality excellence.
• Work collaboratively with all departments to deliver exceptional member experiences.

Qualifications

• Sommelier certification (Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, ISG, or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, private clubs, hotels, or upscale restaurants.
• Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, production methods, and food pairing principles.
• Passion for storytelling, guest engagement, and wine education.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Professional, collaborative, and member-focused approach.
