As we gear up for our 2027 Festival, we’re looking for a creative, organized, and bilingual (French/English) Social Media Coordinator to join our team for the upcoming festival season. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves film, storytelling, social media, and connecting with audiences. The successful candidate will help build excitement around KCFF in both official languages, with a particular focus on the lead-up to and during the festival.

About the Role

The Social Media Coordinator will oversee KCFF’s social media presence across its various platforms, developing engaging content that promotes films, filmmakers, festival events, programs, and the overall KCFF experience. The Coordinator will work under the supervision and guidance of our Marketing Manager and Executive Director.

The hours will be somewhat negotiable based on availability. Ideally, the position will begin in the fall at approximately 10 hours per week, increasing to approximately 20–30 hours per week in the winter. The week of the Festival will be 40-50+ hours (Feb 22-28).

The role will include a combination of in-office work at the KCFF office in Kingston and remote work from home.

Key Responsibilities

– Develop and maintain KCFF’s social media content and posting schedule.

– Create engaging written, visual, and video content for social media platforms in both English and French.

– Promote festival films, filmmakers, special events, programs, sponsors, and ticket sales.

– Develop creative campaigns and content ideas to build audience engagement and excitement.

– Write and adapt social media copy in both English and French.

– Create basic graphics and promotional materials using Canva or similar design tools.

– Capture and edit photography and short-form video content for social media.

– Help develop a consistent and recognizable visual identity across KCFF’s social channels.

– Monitor social media engagement, respond to audience interactions, and identify opportunities to grow KCFF’s online community.

– Collaborate with the KCFF team on marketing, communications, programming, and festival activities.

– Assist with social media coverage and content creation during the festival.

Qualifications

– Fluency in both English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

– Experience managing social media accounts, ideally for an organization, event, arts organization, or cultural institution.

– Strong writing and storytelling skills.

– A creative eye and an interest in visual communication.

– Basic graphic design skills and experience with Canva or similar software.

– Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

– An understanding of current social media trends and platforms.

– The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a small team.

– An interest in Canadian film and/or Kingston’s arts and cultural community.

Assets

– Photography experience.

– Videography and/or video editing experience.

– Experience creating short-form video.

– Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other comparable design/editing software.

– Experience working in film, festivals, arts, culture, media, or nonprofit organizations.

– Experience developing social media campaigns or growing an online audience.

Hours & Work Location

The position will begin in fall 2026 at approximately 10 hours per week, increasing to approximately 20–30 hours per week during the winter, based on availability and festival needs.

The role will involve a combination of work from the KCFF office in Kingston and remote work from home. The successful candidate should be available for increased in-person and on-site work during the festival period.

Compensation

$25/hour
