Full-Time Social Media Manager

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Writing, we're looking for a Social Media Manager to lead our social media team, and develop and implement strategies for our many social media channels. The Social Media Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Duties:

  • Managing the social media team, and online presence across various social media platforms including TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Floatplane

  • Ensuring consistency of voice and tone across all social platforms.

  • Working with the team to create and post content (both sponsored and organic) across those platforms

  • Evaluating the engagement, audience sentiment, and performance of our posts

  • Managing a schedule of Floatplane-Exclusive content, evaluating performance and audience sentiment

  • Facilitating and managing the creation and release of sponsored social posts,acting as the liaison between the business development and social teams

  • Planning, developing, and implementing social media strategies in response to both data and social media trends.

  • Finding and creating opportunities for collaboration with other creators & brands, utilizing social media as a medium

  • Managing and coordinating the upkeep of posts on auxiliary Youtube channels’ social platforms (ShortCircuit, Techlinked, Mac Address)

Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of social media experience

  • A strong understanding of our channels and their voice

  • Knowledge and passion for technology and gaming

  • Strong writing and organizational skills

  • Ability to work with a team or independently

  • A positive, can-do attitude

  • Experience with digital marketing is a plus

  • Experience with content creators is a plus

  • Experience with Facebook advertising is a plus

  • Experience leading teams is a plus

Full-Time Video Editor/Camera Operator

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Production, the Video Editor/Camera Operator will create and edit videos for Linus Media Group across our various channels such as Linus Tech Tips, TechQuickie, etc. The Video Editor/Camera Operator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

  • Editing videos.

  • Set up and operation of cameras, lighting, and audio recording devices.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to think independently and quickly.

  • Great problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.

  • Advanced understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition.

  • Advanced understanding of audio.

  • Advanced understanding of design, including the use of Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • After Effects skills are preferable.

  • Good understanding of lighting.

  • A positive attitude.

  • Ability to work with a team or independently.

  • Strong communication skills.

Full-Time Social Media Coordinator

Reporting to the Head of Writing, we're looking for another creative to join our growing Social Media team. Your mission: flood the web with hilarious memes and engaging short-form videos. The Social Media Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

  • Imagining, creating, and posting content for Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and of course Floatplane.

  • Shooting (with a smartphone camera) and editing short-form video content for social media, as well as exclusive content for our paid subscribers on Floatplane.

  • Engaging with our community to strengthen and grow our presence all over the internet.

  • Evaluating our post's performance, and taking time to explore and execute new social media opportunities.

Full-Time Writer/Video Producer

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Writing, the successful applicant will work with and test technology products, write video scripts describing their findings, and act as a producer for videos on our YouTube Channels (primarily Linus Tech Tips but also TechLinked, ShortCircuit, TechQuickie, and more). The Writer/Video Producer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

  • ~60% - Getting hands-on with products and forming an original, informed opinion. This may include:

    • Testing/Benchmarking PC hardware

    • Researching products by attending press briefings, conducting calls with brands, and good ol’ fashioned Google

  • ~20% - Writing video scripts for hosts to read.

  • ~5% - writing instructions for the camera/editing for the visuals that accompany your script (on-the-job training provided)

  • ~5% - Preparing for and conducting unscripted video shoots by readying the materials (PC or otherwise) ahead of the shoot and providing assistance to the host during the shoot

  • ~5% - Generating video concepts

  • ~5% - Reviewing videos alongside the video editor (on-the-job training provided).

Job Requirements:

Duties:

  • Managing relationships with companies regarding our affiliate marketing needs, including outreach, negotiations and regular follow-up.

Full-Time Production Assistant

Reporting to the Head of Writing, this person will assist the writing and camera teams to help coordinate and optimize shoots for videos across all channels, reducing downtime. The Production Assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

  • Making sure all members of the Production Team have everything they need to perform their jobs

  • Helping prepare the set with lights, props, equipment etc.

  • Assisting the Production Team with various A/V setups as required

  • Managing digital graphics and metadata for the production team

  • Archiving and syncing datasets and files for optimal performance

  • Ensuring internal department workflow and tracking documents are up to date

  • Carrying out necessary administrative duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of Production Assistant experience
