Position Purpose
Reporting to the IT Manager Canada, the role is responsible for formulating the right IT solution strategy for the Canada Market. You will act as solution architect; responsible for driving the selection, design and delivery of IT solutions to support Market’s growth and transformation objectives, actively engaging with business stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of business requirements, and alignment with strategic priorities.
You’ll lead the detailed project planning and execution of approved projects, in accordance with JTI’s Project Management Framework and established IT standards, policies and procedures, J-Sox controls and industry best practices and be responsible for ensuring that third party solution providers and external resources comply with JTI quality standards and fulfil contractual obligations.
Whilst ensuring adherence to JTI IT and Corporate governance standards, you will lead and manage identified projects and on occasions related teams, making sure they are carried out successfully and that day-to-day operations continue in an effective and efficient manner.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Solid understanding of commercial processes in order to effectively formulate the right solution strategy. Evaluate the current and anticipated demand for IT solutions and services aligning with business strategy & priorities in order to effectively formulate the right solution strategy.
  • Act as IT solution subject matter expert for business transformation and change initiatives, collaborating with internal and external subject matter experts to define the required technology solution(s) and to assess the business impact; ensuring clear business ownership, sufficient funding, proper project governance and quality control, adherence to IT project management standards and best practices, and compliance with Operating Guidelines.
  • Work closely with business process owners to ensure proper analysis and documentation of business requirements related to business transformation and change initiatives.
  • Provide overall guidance in the fit-gap analysis, safeguard against business process inefficiencies by identifying and documenting opportunities for improvements.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project cycle while ensuring solution implementation projects are planned and executed according to Project Management standards and best practices plus adherence to JTI’s Project Management Framework
  • Responsible for driving the successful roll-out of global solutions as required.
  • Be accountable for the management of all assigned Local and Global projects and ensure that all deliverables meet the established JTI standards whilst working collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Manage 3rd-party project resources ensuring adherence to relevant JTI policies and procedures
  • Secure early IT involvement in technology-related initiatives, and ensuring alignment with Corporate IT standards, policies and procedures and applicable J-Sox and IT risk controls, in order to reduce technology risk.
  • Provide change management governance and ensure that subsequent solution change requests are backed by a solid business case, preserve solution integrity, and are in line with the underlying solution architecture.

  • University Degree in Computer or Technical Science or strong IT background
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the IT discipline with 2+ of those years in IT Management of Business Solutions/ Application teams
  • Preferred background of employment experience in multinational companies with good working knowledge of business and related processes in FMCG industry
  • Project management (medium to large scale projects); Lead projects in a matrixed and cross functional team
  • Hands on expert knowledge of Power BI, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure API Management (SQL, data factory, data lake) essential in conjunction with experience in one of the following technology trends:
  • cloud SAAS /PAAS solutions
  • web application development and support
  • digital route to market
  • Experienced with business requirements analysis
  • Experienced in creation of solutions design and architecture (business applications and IT infrastructure), including but not limited to application design methodology (including Agile methodology), interface design, capacity planning, scalability
  • Good financial and budgetary understanding
  • Ability to think clearly and act decisively in crisis situations; thinks and acts with a sense of urgency and clear understanding of priorities and strategic importance; highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
