Human Resources and Payroll Systems Specialist

Broadmead Care is seeking a Human Resources and Payroll Systems Specialist to lead improvements to its HRIS. The Human Resources and Payroll Systems Specialist is a functional and technical expert in identifying opportunities for, and leading, multi-disciplinary enhancements, implementations, and updates to human resources and payroll processes and systems. This role is responsible for not only providing consultative support and subject matter expertise to all levels of management and staff in these areas but also ensuring that human resource and payroll processes are effectively managed using the HRIS. This includes requirements gathering and analysis, specifications documentation, creation of test cases and strategy, influencing decision makers, and training of users.

We are funded by Island Health, Veterans Affairs Canada, BC Housing, and philanthropy to provide a range of services including Long Term Care and adult day programs for Veterans and seniors, and Specialized Long Term Care for adults with disabilities.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Performing a human resources and payroll systems setup, configuration and process review;
  • Identifying and presenting areas for improvement;
  • Testing system changes;
  • Implementing system improvements;
  • Training users.

This position will work closely with both the Human Resources and Payroll teams. This position is a contract position and excluded from the bargaining unit.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, and/or Information Systems
  • Experience 5+ years’ experience in HR and HRIS administration
  • Previous experience with payroll systems, setup and configuration
  • A combination of education and experience will also be considered

Other Skills / Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience working in multiple HRIS systems
  • Experience implementing, enhancing and maintaining HR systems (HRIS, performance, payroll, etc.)
  • Expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills including influencing others
  • Excellent project management, time management, and change management skills
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to read and interpret HRIS technical data and translate findings
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively assist users in resolving problems
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, ability to analyze large amounts of data and draw conclusions and make recommendations to business areas
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of data
  • Solutions oriented, resourceful and self-motivated
