Each employee is a part of what makes us unique on the market: agile and dedicated Time Type: Regular Job Description : POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for overseeing, directing, planning and coordinating Network Delivery projects ensuring that they meet Cogeco standards while ensuring that all projects are completed within the prescribed deadlines and meet quality and construction standards. Manage local Head End Technicians, and monitor preventative and reactive maintenance levels. Ensure mean time to repair outages match internal SLA’s KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans/coordinates/constructs and ensures timely and efficient completion of construction activities by assigning work to contractors and maintaining regular contact with utilities, contractors, municipalities, etc. during construction phases
  • Assigns work to contractors and Internal employees. accordingly
  • Produces system designs and layouts for tendering and construction of cable TV and data communication services taking into consideration the most cost effective method of design implementation in terms of priority and timelines
  • Maintains project files; prepares Capital Expenditure Authorisation forms for material requisition; prepares documentation for project cost analysis and scheduling of project timelines. Keeps Coordinator advised of project status up-dates
  • Schedules and conducts field inspections to verify compliance with design and construction specifications. Initiates and approves necessary field revisions to plans to compensate for field related obstacles and/or changes in conditions
  • Ensures proper system documentation by communicating as-built information to the design department for inclusion in final drawings. Highlights field revisions to enable re-calculations by the design staff
Provides support and guidance to construction co-ordinators
  • Monitors and reports on contractor compliance and safe work practices, use of appropriate tools and equipment, including customer service related initiatives
  • Deals with customer complaints, determines scope of the problem and initiates corrective action by the appropriate contractor
  • Liaises with the Inventory Department to ensure that materials required for construction projects are available and correctly accounted for
  • Provides assistance to the Planning Manager in preparing monthly budgets and capital forecasts. .Assists with day to day technical operations - network and service related duties as required
  • As part of their work, employees must take all necessary measures to ensure their own health and safety, and that of their co-workers and the public in general. They must use available personal protective equipment at all times, and comply with all Health & Safety instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures issued by the Company
  • To support Cogeco’s ultimate goal of providing excellent service to current and potential customers, the incumbent must be constantly attentive and responsive to both external and internal customers’ needs and assist in the resolution of any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner while ensuring that the solution meets the customer’s needs
  • Assists day to day Technical Operations by, but not limited to, Standby and/or Shift rotations, network outages, service calls and locates
  • Support team vacation administration for approvals in systems
  • Head End management
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS ACADEMIC TRAINING
  • College Diploma or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Formal CATV, Telecommunications or related technical training

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 10 years experience in CATV system construction and/or electronic operational maintenance

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction operational procedures, technologies, and systems design is preferred
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements to meet Canadian Standards Association Standard C22.3 No.1M87 “Overhead Lines”; Occupational Health and Safety Act; Part II of Canadian Labour Code; the Ontario Electrical Safety Code; Electrical & Utilities Safety Association Rules and Safe Practices
  • Health and Safety Certification is preferred with emphasis on regulations and practices pertaining to construction are preferred
  • Advanced PC skills and an intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Outlook) is required Cable CADD and Legend knowledge is an asset. Knowledge of Google Suits
  • Process oriented with solid problem solving and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented, accurate and thorough processing of information and, highly organized
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in effectively coordinating portions of multiple projects and working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently and within a pre-determined time frame
  • Able to “think outside the box” and see the impact of decisions/actions. Demonstrated thoroughness, follow-up, time management skills are required
  • Solid interpersonal skill with a winning customer service attitude and high level of professionalism
  • Able to establish positive working relationships and work in intra-departmental work teams
  • Self motivated with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently. Ability to monitor own work for quality is required
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s licence and eligibility to drive Cogeco vehicles

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND VISUAL ACUITY
  • Required to lift heavy and light equipment which may involve hand-eye co-ordination. Operate office equipment, print machines and the computer
