Background

As an Indigenous-led and -governed platform, the Indigenous Innovation Initiative empowers First Nation, Inuit and Métis innovators to develop and test innovative ideas that benefit their communities and advance reconciliation, while also benefitting non-Indigenous people and the Land. We do this through a gender-lens investment approach that provides flexible grant funding and culturally rooted wrap-around supports that meet innovators where they are at. We are hosted at Grand Challenges Canada, where we receive operational support from an expert team of individuals across various portfolios.

Impact Analyst

We are seeking an Impact Analyst to play a key role in helping the Knowledges and Community Mobilization Team with inquiry and learning activities, including tracking and sharing the progress and impacts of programs and innovators, and capturing and sharing lessons learned for continuous improvement. Reporting to the Knowledges Mobilization Manager, and working closely with others across the team, the Impact Analyst will have the following core responsibilities:

  • Support the development, implementation and evolution of program and innovator Inquiry and Learning Plans and the ongoing evolution of the Inquiry and Learning Bundle, the Indigenous Knowledges and Data Governance Protocol and the Shared Values and Principles of Indigenous Knowledges Creation and Application
  • Support innovators to complete and submit their inquiry and learning reports, including tracking the progress of inquiry and learning activities and requirements
  • Track, clean and do preliminary analysis on inquiry and learning data to inform program indicators and gender progress markers and associated reports
  • Maintain the Fluxx grant management system as it relates to inquiry and learning reporting
  • Collect, track and maintain a database of lessons learned and support the broader team to apply and share these learnings within and beyond the Indigenous Innovation Initiative
  • Support the creation of knowledge products, including reports, presentations, case studies etc.
  • Identify and action opportunities to make Knowledges mobilization processes and systems more efficient and effective
  • Conduct ad hoc research and evaluation to support learning and planning across our work
  • Support risk and issue management as it relates to the above

Key attributes and experience we are looking for in an Impact Analyst:

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous contexts in Canada
  • Education or experience related to Indigenous impact measurement, Knowledges mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, performance measurement, etc.
  • Demonstrated qualitative data analysis, data management and data application skills; narrative reporting skills; and storytelling skills
  • Experience or understanding with research, sensemaking, GBA+, appreciative inquiry, empowerment evaluation, community-based participatory research, gendered approaches to monitoring and evaluation and data visualization are an asset
  • Strong level of comfort working with Microsoft Excel and NVivo
  • Experience working with Fluxx is an asset
