Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join a well‑established team of environmental professionals to fill the position of Wetlands Ecologist.

Triton is known for applying technical expertise and pragmatism to the challenges our clients task us with. Our multi-disciplinary team comprises environmental professionals specializing in aquatic and terrestrial biology, soil science, vegetation ecology, environmental assessment, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring/inspection, and resource management. We apply this wide range of expertise in providing practical environmental solutions to our clients.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing wetlands ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Conducting wetland surveys, assessments, and monitoring in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
An Authenticating Wetlands Professional designation is preferred for work in Alberta
Providing technical wetlands support to project teams
Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and schedule
Liaising with on site client representatives and contractors
Providing independent technical review for proposals and project deliverables
Providing a fulsome understanding of environmental best management practices and advising client and project teams accordingly
Working collaboratively across project and corporate-level teams

Skills and Qualifications

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, ecology, soil science, or a related field
Professional Biologist (Alberta Society of Professional Biologists), Registered Professional Biologist (British Columbia College of Applied Biologists) or Professional Agrologist (British Columbia or Alberta) designation, dependent on location of home office
Authenticating Wetlands Professional designation with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists if based in Alberta
Familiarity with wetland regulatory regimes in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan
Specific to Alberta, experience preparing Wetlands Assessment and Impact Forms, Wetlands Assessment and Impact Reports, and the Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool
5 or more years of relevant experience
Experience conducting a broad variety of wetlands-specific scopes of work in both pre‑construction and construction settings
Ability to work in physically demanding and remote field settings for extended durations
Strong technical writing, reporting, communication and team leadership skills
Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
Strong problem-solving skills
